To get a US Tourist visa you need to show that you want to visit the USA for the purposes of either business or tourism. For business you might be consulting with business partners, attending conferences or conventions, or negotiating contracts. The B-2 visa option is for travel that is recreational in nature, including tourism, visiting family, a partner, or friends, attending social events,or formedical treatment. If you think you qualify for one of these purposes of travel to the US then you can apply for USVisitor visa and go through the different procedures from there.
A US Visitor visa or Tourist visa will have a date of validity on it and you can arrive in the US right up to the last date of validity indicated on the visa. The duration of your stay in the US will be decided by the Immigration Officer on arrival. The maximum stay on a B1/B2 visa is 6 months.
The application fee for the US Tourist or American Holiday visa is currently US$160. This will usually be paid in the local currency in the country where you make your application.
If you want to apply for US Visitor visa you should include the following documents in your application: Your current and old passports, a passport photo, a completed application, a receipt for payment of your Visa Application Fee, an Interview Appointment letter, documents that support the purpose of your trip, documents that show that you intend to remain in the US for a limited period of time, documents that show that you intend to return to your home country at the end of your stay.
Many people want to visit family and friends in the USA. One option is to get the US citizen or resident to prepare a letter of invitation for the visa applicant. While an invitation is not required and cannot guarantee a visa being granted, it can in certain circumstances help with that persons application. However, visa applicants must qualify for the Tourist visa according to their own circumstances, and not solely on the basis of a sponsor’s assurance.
When you enter the US on your Tourist visa your primary purpose for entering needs to be for the purpose for which the visa was granted i.e. for tourist purposes.
Some people therefore argue that, as long as your primary purpose for visiting the US is tourism, it’s not a lie to state your reason for entry as tourism but also have a secondary intention to inquire about work. Some argue that you are perfectly within your rights as a tourist or business visitor to look into future employment, go to interviews, etc, as long as you are not paid money for it and you leave the United States and get a work visa before you come back. However some would argue otherwise, and US customs have been known to deny entry or deport persons having in their possession: phone messages or diary entries mentioning job offers or looking for work, letters of introduction, curricula vitae, resumes, samples of your work, or tools of your trade. So, when you enter the US on an American Tourist visa or American Holiday visa make sure that you explain to customs that your main intention is for tourism, holiday, to visit friends or family.
